Terms of Service
Welcome to Piecemates! These Terms of Service govern your use of Piecemates, a puzzle journal for iPhone made by Zoë Morken ("I" or "me"). By creating an account or using Piecemates, you agree to these terms. They work alongside Apple's standard license for apps from the App Store.
The Piecemates service
I agree to provide you with the Piecemates service, which includes the app and its website. Here's what it offers:
- A journal for your puzzles. Log the puzzles you own and finish, with photos, ratings, notes and time spent.
- A shared puzzle list. Look up puzzles other people have added, and add new ones so others can find them.
- A safe, friendly place. I review reports and remove content that breaks these terms.
- An app that keeps improving. I work to keep Piecemates running, and features may be added, changed or removed over time.
Your privacy
Providing Piecemates requires collecting and using some of your information. The Privacy Policy explains what I collect, how I use and protect it, and the choices you have.
Your commitments
Who can use Piecemates
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- One account per person. Your account must be yours. Don't sign up as someone else.
- Keep your sign-in secure. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- You can't use Piecemates if I've disabled your account before for breaking these terms.
How you can't use Piecemates
Piecemates should be a friendly place for puzzlers, so there's no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior.
- You can't post anything offensive or harmful. That includes hateful, sexual, violent or harassing content.
- You can't post photos you don't have the right to share. Take box photos yourself; don't copy images from publisher or retailer websites.
- You can't add fake or misleading entries. No spam puzzles or made-up details.
- You can't share anyone's personal information.
- You can't interfere with the app. Don't try to access other people's data, disrupt the service, or copy its contents in bulk.
Permissions you give to me
- You keep ownership of your content. You own the photos, ratings and notes you add. Your journal, notes and finished-puzzle photos stay private.
- Permission to show puzzles you add to the shared list. When you add a puzzle to the shared puzzle list, including its box photo, you give me permission to store it, show it to other people in the app, and resize or crop it to fit. This permission continues after you delete your account, so others can still find the puzzle. Your name is never shown with it.
Additional rights I keep
- The Piecemates name, icon and design belong to me. You can't use them without my permission.
Content removal and ending your account
- Reporting. You can report a puzzle entry or photo from the app. I review reports within 2 days.
- Removal. I may edit, hide or remove any entry, and suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, without notice.
- Copyright. If you believe something in the app infringes your copyright, email piecematesapp@gmail.com with a link to the content and proof that you own it. If the claim is valid, I'll remove the content.
- Deleting your account. You can delete your account anytime in Settings → Account → Sign-in → Delete account.
Puzzle information
Puzzle details are added by people who use the app and may contain mistakes. If you spot one, suggest a correction from the puzzle page.
Brand names and box art belong to their owners. Piecemates isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any puzzle publisher.
Our agreement and what happens if we disagree
Our agreement
These terms, the Privacy Policy and Apple's standard license make up the whole agreement between you and me. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
Who is responsible if something happens
Piecemates is free and provided as is. I work to keep it running and your data safe, but I can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copies of anything important; you can export your journal anytime from Settings.
To the extent the law allows, I'm not liable for indirect or accidental losses from using the app, including lost data.
How we'll handle disputes
If you have a concern, email me first and I'll try to resolve it. These terms are governed by the laws of Texas, USA.
Updating these terms
If these terms change, I'll update the effective date. For bigger changes, I'll let you know in the app before they take effect. Using the app after that means you accept them.
